I am a social anthropologist interested in urban studies. I work as a senior researcher at the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences. In recent years, I was a Fulbright-Masaryk Fellow at the Department of Sociology, Columbia University in the City of New York, Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Sociology, Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, and short-term visiting researcher at several European universities, such as Durham University or the University of Kent. Using various methods and tools, such as ethnography, social networks analysis, photovoice, or GPS tracking, my research is focused on the comparative study of architecture/design and poverty, informality and city, and the temporal, spatial, and social dimensions of street culture. I currently hold a Junior Core Fellowship at the Institute of Advanced Study at Central European University, where I am working on the project "The Politics of Designing Poverty in a Contemporary Globalised World: A Study of Macro-Murals in Colombia."
